Skies, Seattle Summer

A dynamic light art sculpture that depicts the ever-changing sky at a specific place; here representing the summer sky in Seattle, WA, USA.

SKIES, SEATTLE SUMMER

Skies is a dynamic light art sculpture that depicts the ever-changing sky in Seattle, WA, USA. It consists of seven light boxes positioned above each other. Individually, each light box provides a view of the unique details of the sky. Together, seven light boxes and light space between them forms a view of the wide-open sky. A combination of photography, algorithmically programmed dynamic lights, and optical filters within the acrylic structure engages viewers' emotional connection to daylight changing from sunset to sunrise. Just like in nature, the sky is constantly changing, and the same state is never repeated. This piece is part of the Skies series.

The piece is derived from Maja’s evidence-based research on complimentary benefits of light, art, and biophilia.
