REDUCED LANDSCAPES, WATER LILY

Reduced Landscapes, Water Lily is a dynamic light sculpture depicting the abstract impression of water, a transition to another state of being. The artwork depicts a water landscape in a state of flux, suggesting a moment of change or a transition to another state of being. Just like in nature, the light in the artwork changes its appearance based on the perspective and ambient light. This piece is part of the Reduced Landscapes series.

The use of optical materials is a central element of the sculpture, as they create an illusion of depth and movement that draws the viewer into the piece. The materials also reflect and refract light, which contributes to the ever-changing appearance of the artwork. As the light moves through the sculpture, it creates an ethereal and otherworldly effect that is both calming and mesmerizing sensation of water.

Using dynamic light sculptures, Petric captures the fleeting, ephemeral qualities of natural phenomena inviting the viewer to contemplate the beauty and transience of the natural world. The optical materials used in the sculptures create a sense of depth and movement, further emphasizing the idea of transition and transformation. Ultimately, the pieces are a meditation on the impermanence of nature and our own human experience of change.
